Marin Buzz Events in July

Anyone in Sausalito for the 4th of July needs to know our BBQ at Eria (above the Trident) is the spot for lunch. Food by Tasty’s Joint and dessert by Lappert’s. Grab your ticket here (just 40 left, will sell out).
We’ll be in Mill Valley for our Dinner Club on Tuesday, July 7. We curate tables of 6 people you’ll enjoy, reveal your restaurant, and then follow it with an optional afterparty (at a highly rated spot I’m excited about). Secure your spot here.
Just announced: new cocktail class series at Malibu Farm Tiburon with Sausalito Liquor Company. Three Thursdays in July to choose from. Only 10 hours after our Instagram announcement, we are 55% sold out, so don’t wait to reserve your spot.
On Saturday, July 25th, we’ll be back at Eria Sausalito with Katiana DJing another music history party. She’ll focus on funk and dance with stories about Sly and the Family Stone, Rick James, Stone City Band, Prince, Tower of Power, and more. The first 50 tickets are only $20 here.
Happy 4th of July weekend. If you aren’t heading to Tahoe or elsewhere, there are plenty of exciting Marin events to check out.

All Week Long
It runs Wednesday through Sunday. There’s too much to list, but check out the concerts, scheduled events, and competitive exhibits. Kids and seniors are free on Wednesday, July 1. Open 11am-11pm, fireworks every night at 9:30pm.
Friday, July 3
The music is performed by the Shark Alley Hobos, a Bay Area sea shanty band. Trivia, costumes, popcorn. 8pm, free.

Gabrielson Park usually hosts Jazz and Blues by the Bay on Fridays, but they are taking a break for the holiday weekend. And the music replacing it might be even better. 2-8pm, free.
Saturday, July 4
4th of July Morning
There are a shocking number of parades. Most people go to their local one, so I don’t feel the need to list them all here. But if you are traveling, I’d look to Novato at 10am (the biggest), Sausalito at 10am, or Bolinas at 11am (but get there for the tug-of-war with Stinson Beach at 9am).
4th of July Afternoon
The most important event is our 4th of July BBQ in Sausalito (plus nearby Dunphy Park). What else? The Marin County Fair has great bands playing in the afternoon and evening. Corte Madera Town Park has a festival 1-4:30. Bolinas celebrates with beach games and shuts down streets all day. Cavallo Point has a BBQ 3-6 (but will all the parking be full by then?). Tiburon has a block party 5-8.
4th of July Fireworks
There’s the 9:30pm fireworks every night at the Civic Center for the Marin County Fair. Then there’s Gabrielson Park in Sausalito with a show around 9:15pm. But the big one this year is the Golden Gate Bridge 250th-anniversary show. Most viewing locations are in SF, with the GGB closing as early as 8pm for the 9:30pm show. I won’t give any Marin viewing tips, since it will be chaos: whatever you end up doing, just go earlier than you think is reasonable.
Sunday, July 5
The world’s only Celtic Grateful Dead jam band. Sounds unique and it’s at an outdoor amphitheater you might not have been to yet. 5pm, $25 in advance.
She’s an impressive singer-songwriter, playing this free music in the park series. Miko has almost had two careers, first in country in 2005, then after some time away, now performing soulful Americana. 5-6:30pm, free.
Here’s a Marin hike you might not have done yet. It’s a serious 6.5 miles with 1,080’ elevation change. 9am-2pm, free (registration required).

Since the Marin County Fair is still going, the Farmers Market will relocate across the freeway by Macy’s. 8am-1pm.

Colby Ralls is a rising high school senior in San Rafael who is now in his second summer running a kids fishing business. He teaches kids ages 5 to 15 how to fish from Marin shores, docks, and piers, providing all the equipment required. I recently made a video showing this, and another local favorite, Korty’s Fish Camp.
Should we feature more youth businesses and charities?

Hippo was 15 1/2 years old when she passed away in the loving arms of her mother on June 5th and was showered with love in her last moments, the way she showered others with love every day of her life. Hippo, thank you for almost 16 years together. You are the joy of my life and I’m thankful for every lesson and moment we shared together. I can’t wait to see you again, in any lifetime.
