Another perfect weekend: sunny in the high 70s. Are we spoiled or what?

Tucked away by Scotty’s in Terra Linda is a small shack that is a unique takeaway experience. They source top local ingredients and put out a fixed menu on their website every day, Tuesday through Friday. Call at 4:15, and if you get a busy signal, keep trying (by 5 they might be sold out). Pick up times are between 4:45-7:30. And boy is it worth the hassle! I don’t know if it’s the savings on rent invested in quality ingredients, or chef’s attention to each dish (there’s just 1 oven and 2 burners).

Gino is a Chihuahua Rat Terrier mix adopted from Wine Country Pet lovers in Calistoga at 10 weeks old. He just turned 3 years old last March

Thursday, August 7

There is another restaurant opening in downtown San Rafael. Check out the ribbon cutting 5-6.

There are a lot of improv events I don’t include. This all-women group is at the Marin Art and Garden Center, which is always a good time. 7:30-9, $20.

This band is a local favorite. They are doing a free dinner show at Station House Cafe with a $25 food and beverage minimum. 6-8.

Friday, August 8

This is a fun band and location. I went to a Marinwood music in the park last year, and people were going hard! Free, 6-8.

The “annual non-annual” talent show since 1976. Who will win the title of the most talented person in Mill Valley? 7-9:30, free.

Saturday, August 9

Grab a coffee and check out some cars. Free, 8-10am.

Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead music at the Sweetwater. 8pm, $26.

Did you see the slide guitar master last time? If not, 6-8:30 in Creek Park.

Sunday, August 10

This week is a singer-songwriter, but also guitar teacher. Free, 5-6:30.

This is the third annual event with some great entertainment and food. One band puts “a Jewish spin on the lyrics of popular songs, transforming Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Sweet Home Alabama into Sweet Aroma of the Challah. 1-4, free.

140 booths, you never know what you will find. Free, 9-3.

If You Want a Trip Outside Marin

This weekend is the Outside Lands festival in SF (somehow my boy Ludacris didn’t make the top 12 names in color?!?). The Gravenstein Apple Fair is in Sebastopol.
