Not only is it going to rain for much of the next week, but it isn’t even productive rain. It will be too warm for much snow in Tahoe. Dang.

Award winning celebrity chef Ryan Scott has a permanent food trailer in San Anselmo that is open Friday to Sunday 8am-2pm. I love seeing someone so skilled and passionate pour their soul into a unique business that is more about the craft than the money. (Although this might be the most expensive hot chocolate of my life…)
Hoover is a rescue poodle/pug mix. He is 3.5 years old. He’s a fan of hiking, beach runs, and “woo woo-ing”.

They are showing free movies in the Marin Center Theater part of the Civic Center Holiday Lights Spectacular. First up is Elf at 5:30, then Cool Runnings at 7:30 (my initial reaction was “that’s not a holiday movie,” but then I realized it is a winter theme and would be great for kids to watch before the Olympics in February).

Marin Country Mart Holiday Stuff in Larkspur
At 9:30am there is a sing-along with Santa. Then in the evening they are showing the movie Frozen in the big tent.

I work hard finding you the most unique events each week. Well, look no further than this movie at the Lark Theater. Modern yet in black-and-white. No dialogue, almost like the Looney Tunes. It has a cult following! 5pm, $16.
I bet you knew the winter solstice, December 21st, is the shortest day of the year. But did you know that the latest sunrise of the year in Marin is January 5th? The Earth spins on its axis in 23 hours and 56 minutes, but since it is zooming around the sun, it has to keep spinning another 4 minutes for the sun to get back to the same spot in the sky. But not exactly 4 minutes: since the orbit is an ellipse, not a perfect circle, at this time of the year the Earth is moving faster around the sun and it takes a little longer than 4 minutes of extra spinning for a full solar day. Science!
Well either way, they are doing a cool hike this morning to watch the sunrise from Old Saint Hilary’s. Tell them what you learned from Marin Buzz. 7am, free.
