Marin history and our Zillow listing of the week
Did you know the inventor of radio played a role in Marin history? (If you read last Wednesday’s events email closely, you might have.)
Guglielmo Marconi invented radio communication in the late 1890s. He famously demonstrated the first successful transatlantic radio signal in 1901, sending messages between England and Canada (plus his equipment was used in 1912 to send the Titanic distress signals).
But the Pacific Ocean is much bigger than the wimpy Atlantic. In fact, it is more than twice as large by area and volume!
So over a decade later, in 1914 Guglielmo set his sights on the behemoth Pacific. They set up a groundbreaking radio station right here in Marin County, in Bolinas. Known as the Marconi Wireless Station, this spot became a critical hub for global communications, even playing a key role during World War I by relaying messages across the ocean (the Navy took it over to prevent enemy espionage).
Go Marin!

A beautiful off-market listing for a cool $5.25M!
I was browsing Instagram (follow Marin Buzz here) and came across this gem:
“Designed by architect M. Dean Jones and completed in 2008, the home was built with intention and soul—featuring reclaimed timbers from an Ohio hay barn, Montana stone fireplaces, and redwood salvaged from a historic Fortuna lumber yard.”
If you want a view, you usually don’t get a yard. Here you get both.
Great location right by Tam Junction, not super deep up Mt Tam.
5436 SQ FT with 2 living spaces so your in-laws will ask to move in.
It is off market, but actively being sold. How does that work exactly, just playing hard to get?

Thanks for reading. We will be back with the regular events and activities email Wednesday morning!
