Get ready to spring forward those clocks this weekend, losing an hour of sleep. The good news: the sunset is going to jump from 6:10pm on March 7 to 7:11pm on March 8. Or you could pull a Kramer and do it right now.

And more good news: the number of great events will finally start picking up. So if you haven’t seen anything to your liking recently, stick with us, it’s about to get good.

Wednesday, March 4

Did you know the Buck Institute is a research lab here in Marin studying the biology of aging? Who said this is an aging county, we are on the cutting edge! The CEO is speaking at 11am if you open this email in time (you can also join for the breakfast buffet at 10am). $10.

Friday, March 6

The Marlowe Quartet performs for this sunset cocktail evening. 5-9pm, $16 using promo code MARINBUZZ.

It’s Read Across America Week, so here’s a bibliophile’s dream sale. All items have been donated and researched, and proceeds support the public libraries. Times are listed in the link, including a half price sale the last 90 minutes.

Saturday, March 7

There will be numerous wineries, hors d’oeuvres, live music, and you even get a commemorative glass. Plus, childcare is available for $15! 2-5, $30.

High-energy dad punk band. “Do you love carpools? So do we. Getting ready for school in the morning? Nothing we'd rather be doing.“ 8:30, free but donation suggested.

Sunday, March 8

Two high school students created more space for girls in music through this fundraising concert benefiting girls’ education worldwide. The headliner? I’d love to know! It’s listed as “Secret Special Guest”… $15, 4pm.

There’s an estate sale in Sleepy Hollow from Thursday to Sunday.

If you want a trip outside Marin

Actor John Malkovich adds some comedy to the San Francisco Symphony. He plays the role of an evil critic who trashes the most famous classical music of all time that the symphony is playing live. It’s Friday at 7:30pm, there are plenty of tickets still available starting at $75.

Sacramento has a free museum weekend, I had no idea there were so many cool museums there (like the California State Railroad Museum).

Not enough people know this is here. Well, many people know the building. It was built in 1892 as a home, and was recently a restaurant called Hilltop (first Hilltop Cafe, then Hilltop 1892).

This hill is a stone’s throw from downtown Novato and has a sweeping view south. Does Novato have better clouds than the rest of Marin? The patio dining is on the side of the building, so it’s an excellent place to spend a warm sunset evening. The food is Peruvian with a modern twist. Quite the cocktail list as well.

Pet of the Week is brought to you by: Tiburon Dog Butler — Dedicated dog care professionals that offer curated, group adventure hikes throughout Marin’s most beautiful trails. Serving Tiburon, Mill Valley, Corte Madera, Strawberry, Larkspur, San Anselmo, Ross, Kentfield and Fairfax! 415-413-6178

Mocca (chihuahua mix) was found newborn abandoned on the street in Bangkok Thailand. He's been around the world and lived in Thailand, Texas, South Korea, AZ and now living out his final years in Novato.
