It’s a fairly quiet Easter weekend with many people traveling for spring break. But there are a few gems to check out.

Wednesday, April 1

You’ve heard of open mics, but have you heard of open belly? An open mic for belly dancers, featuring live music, student and professional dancers. 7:30-10pm, donation based.

Saturday, April 4

It looks like tickets are still available, but it says it sells out every year, so act fast if you want to join. 8:30am, $72 to $109 for adults.

Think the fun is just for kids? 250 participants scramble for eggs filled with over $6,000 in gift cards, prizes, and more. 11:30am, $27.

It’s costume night, I know you have an 80s costume lying around. Often sells out, so buy a ticket in advance. 9pm, $12.

USF, Pacific, and Concordia will all play each other at the Indian Valley Campus of College of Marin. Good chance to check out a Division 1 sport right here in Marin. 9-3, free.

Marin Buzz loves our local businesses, and this one is even called "Made Local Marketplace." They are giving free tastings of 61Coconuts Peanut Brittle this weekend and have a list of other local brands future Saturdays. Noon-4.

Sunday, April 5

Everyone goes to their local egg hunts, so I’m not going to list them all here. But what if you want something different this year? Try the Pelican Inn. The British Pub feels a world away, but is only 15 minutes from Tam Junction. I haven’t been on Easter, but looks like they’ll have an egg hunt at 10, appearance by the easter bunny, and buffet 11-4. $79 for adults, $35 for ages 5-12.

Four renowned blues musicians are coming together for this show. 7pm, $40.

Get your shop on

No notable estate or clearance sales this weekend. So I tried to find you something unique on Facebook Marketplace. How would you like a set of 59 Hardy Boys books from the 1960s?

There is also a 50% off everything sale at the Friends of Sausalito Library Bookstore. It is a massive store with limited hours, including this Saturday noon-3.

This spot is a ways out there, but well worth the trip on a beautiful spring day. Buy some cheese, a sandwich, and other picnic supplies in their store. Then take them out to the picnic tables near the pond set amongst the rolling hills.

Technically, it’s called Marin French Cheese Company, although everyone calls it The Cheese Factory. Why? I guess because that’s the name they decided to list in the phone book in 1975. I might have to do a Marin History article on it too — did you know it is the oldest continuously operating cheese company in the United States?
