In the closing act of the 1971 classic film Dirty Harry, a hijacked school bus exits 101 onto Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in Larkspur.
Then, out the window, the villain spots Inspector Harry Callahan, played by Clint Eastwood, standing on a wooden railroad trestle above the road:
Eastwood leaps directly onto the roof of the passing bus and rides it past where Marin Country Mart is now located and arrives at a quarry. The massive timber trestle over the road is now gone, as is the quarry.
Today, the SMART train pedestrian bridge is in the same location over Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. But if you look south, you’ll still see remnants including wooden pilings and a drawbridge that has been fixed in the raised position since the early 1980s:

p.s. The movie was inspired by the real life Zodiac Killer just a few years prior. In fact, there was a chilling 1969 letter to the San Francisco Chronicle about a school bus, that likely inspired this exact scene.

Given the size of the Masonic and him only being there one night, this will sell out almost immediately. Presale opportunities (e.g. join the Masonic email list), then the general sale starts Thursday morning.
Tomorrow, our tickets drop for our next cocktail class at Left Bank Larkspur with King Floyd’s Bar Provisions. Since this is likely to sell out quickly, we are releasing them first to our new Insider Text group. Even if you aren’t interested in that event, join so you hear about upcoming exclusive opportunities.

Because leaving Marin might take more planning. Look for our Marin events in the Wednesday email.
This is a massive free event on Saturday and Sunday. 17 blocks, 400 vendors, 5 stages, and even a mini soccer stadium.
Compete for the title of best air guitar player in the country. Or just watch some people on stage going for it. Saturday 5/23, $20.

$2.1M Eichler with Renovated Pool in Terra Linda

The Eichler homes in northern San Rafael are in varying states today. Some are impressive, many not so much. And plenty aren’t even recognizable from their original design due to significant modifications.
Eichlers were considered affordable tract housing for middle-class families. If you bought in the late 1950s in Northern San Rafael, you would have paid approximately $200k in today’s inflation-adjusted dollars.
I’ll spare you the rant about how expensive everything is today. The point is, some of these homes were neglected. Plenty added pools over the decades, but it’s rare to see one this impressive that fits the yard so well.
What do you think, can you see yourself living out the 1961 dream here?

SIMPLY SAID, modeled after the Moth Radio Hour, showcases storytelling on stage at the Lark Theater, hosted by author/actor and storytelling teacher Corey Rosen. Each show features both experienced storytellers and opportunities for audience members to put their name in the hat to tell their own story based on a monthly theme. Hear tales of bold moves, confronting fears, and dicey decisions. Share your story or simply enjoy as part of the audience. Stories are spoken aloud (without notes) about something you have experienced personally.
Why storytelling? Humans tell stories; it’s our native language!

Thanks for reading. We will be back with the regular events and activities email Wednesday morning!
