Waitlist Only and Discounted Tickets

Our cocktail class series kicks off this week at Malibu Farm Tiburon with Sausalito Liquor Company. It is waitlist only, however, since there are free cancellations, a good number of people will make it off the waitlist. Secure your spot here for one of the next three Thursdays.
Then we’ll be back at Eria Sausalito on July 25th for the next Sausalito Music History Party. Katiana Giacona is the DJ and wrote an excellent history book on the former Record Plant Sausalito studios. She’ll play the music and tell stories behind the recording, focusing on funk and dance: Prince, Sly Stone, Rick James, Stevie Wonder, and more. Discounted early-bird tickets just released here.

Thousands watched the America’s 250th Birthday fireworks over the Golden Gate Bridge. The brightly colored fog was a disappointment, but there was once a much worse Marin fireworks show.
On July 4, 1893, the El Monte Hotel staged its annual show. The hillside resort loomed above Water Street, which today is Bridgeway.
They were well stocked: Parachute rockets, willow tree rockets, twelve-star Roman candles, Saxon wheels, Japanese night shells, and fifteen "union bombshells." One crate was simply labeled "surprise boxes."
Around 9:30 pm a fire broke out on the dry shingle roof of the saloon just below, the Hunter’s Resort. Newspapers blamed a stray skyrocket falling on a roof. The El Monte Hotel’s owner spent years insisting his show was innocent.
The fire quickly spread through the wooden buildings. The three-story Tamalpais Hotel, the Tamalpais Stable, the Lisbon House, a bakery, a barber shop, a plumbing shop — all gone. Ten buildings in total.

If that wasn’t bad enough, the Tamalpais Hotel's boiler exploded. Its iron cover flew 300 feet in the air and crashed near a group of women outside the Hotel Sausalito.
There was nothing that could be done. Neither the volunteer “fire department” with a few hose carts, nor the fireboat that eventually arrived from San Francisco was much use. So instead of a fireworks show, nearly a thousand people watched the Sausalito downtown business district burn.
Stand on Bridgeway today, just by the fountain in Viña del Mar Park, and look across to 729 Bridgeway, which is now home to Gene Hiller Menswear.

Can you imagine a worse fireworks show?

For 63 years, the Marin Cyclists Club has strived to make the Marin Century the gold standard, setting the bar for cycling events. We offer you an incredible bike ride on amazing roads, starting and finishing at beautiful Stafford Lake Park in Novato, followed by a party extravaganza. Choose one of FIVE scenic routes ranging from 37 to 127 miles. We prioritize your safety, provide premium support, supply specialty foods, serve craft beer, and showcase live musicians. Prepare to be impressed by the service, perks, and freebies. It's not just a ride, it's a party!
The Marin Cyclists Club, an all volunteer, non-profit organization, donates the proceeds to local charities, totalling over $640,000 in the last 20 years.
These tickets went on sale recently for the Friday, August 21st show at SAP Center in San Jose. Tickets start at $80, which isn’t so crazy for a stadium tour with some big names and local favorites.
The lead singer will be at the Fox Theater, which has a great tiered standing room layout (the SF Castro Theatre also reopened earlier this year with the same concept). Tickets start at $67 for the 9/5 show. Fun fact: Flowers says his famous “Are we human, or are we dancer?” lyric is inspired by a quote by legendary Bay Area journalist Hunter S. Thompson.
The lottery for free tickets is now open to Public Enemy on 8/15 or Al Green on 8/16.

Because leaving Marin might take more planning. Look for our Marin events in the Wednesday email.
Summer is a great time to take the ferry and here’s your excuse. There’s a free festival at the Ferry Building Sunday, noon to 6. Live music, vendors, optional wine tasting add-on.

Grab your kayak and hang out at the floating concert, Saturday 7/11 noon-5:30pm.

Don’t stop believing you’ll have the money for this Marin Country Club neighborhood home.
Is that a private pickleball court? Or a basketball court? Any way you want it, that’s the way you need it.
The home itself is a massive 4,548 square feet. And it’s set on a 1.55 acre lot, making this highly desired within the Country Club neighborhood.
The backyard is impressive: resort-style pool, hot tub, even a putting green. Be sure to invite me over if you end up buying it.
