Everywhere with Pliny the Younger in Marin

The yearly release of the award winning beer is back! People go nuts for this, waiting in line for hours. (I think I had a sip once?)

The Junction had it already. A couple other locations have announced they’ll be serving it Super Bowl Sunday (until sold out): Hopmunk Novato and Rancho Nicasio. Some other places like Gotts and Monk’s Kettle are rumored to have it, but no announcements yet.

ps. I don’t know if I can handle those triple IPAs. I’m much more interested in this type of beer, Hidden Splendor, that will be opening in the State Room location in downtown San Rafael.

Great Hawaiian ukulele music is incredible — this band is more rock, featuring an electric ukulele. They added some Grateful Dead songs to their usual set, so I’m sure this indoor show at The Junction will be incredible. 6-10, $25.

Friday, February 6

I think of this as a high energy band and Bob Marley as mellow. But they are good, so I’d be excited to see what they can do here at the Paper Mill Creek Saloon. 8pm, free.

Saturday, February 7

People rave about this place and this event they are hosting will certainly be memorable. Sunset happy hour on the bluffs, inside 30 person meal with produce from the garden and wine pairings. 4:30-9, $225.

Are you curious to hear the top teen band in both Marin and SF? (Love this song. Not easy.) Paired with a Marin band that has been together since the 90s, it should be an interesting show. 8pm, $37.

This is a monthly event you might not know about. The first Saturday of every month, veterans of the program share their stories at the most fully restored Nike missile site in the country. Talks at 12:15, 1:15, 2:15, free.

The clothing brand (with a great local social media account) is hosting a great community event out of a house in Novato. There are a ton of free treats from local bakers, a bounce house, and samples of their new dirty soda venture. 12-3, free.

You purchase a wristband and are given a map of participating restaurants. At each you get soup. Genius! 1-4:30, $25.

Pliny The Younger Super Bowl Parties

As mentioned above, Hopmunk Novato and Rancho Nicasio both announced they are serving this limited release beer on Sunday.

This ranger led event at McNears Beach is for ages 8 and up. They’ll provide paper mache, light strands, and more. 11:30, free but registration is required.

Tuesday, February 10

We are back running our 2nd dinner club where you take a personality quiz and get assigned a table with 5 strangers. Here is the announcement and things we are doing differently than last time. 6:15, $30.

Get your shop on

There’s a collector’s estate sale in Novato this weekend. I see a: marlin, camel, slot machines, ships, and more.

If you want a trip outside Marin

There’s a ton of Super Bowl events all over the Bay Area since the game is at Levi’s. The big one for kids is the Super Bowl Experience at SF’s Moscone Center. And I covered a hilarious event involving Kevin from The Office.

The Tamalpa Runners Club is hosting the 41st Couples Relay in Novato on Saturday, February 14. It sounds like a fun event with different combos possible (like parent / child), not just married couples. 8am, $45 for 2.
