Happy Father’s Day weekend to all the dads. Here are a few things to check out.

Thursday, June 18
This event closes down a couple blocks of downtown Novato, close to the train station. If you don’t love the festivals that are big, hot and crowded, try taking the train to this one. The band: Mercy and the Heartbeats. 6-9pm, free

Friday, June 19
There are still tickets available to see this legendary blues harmonica player at an outdoor show at Hopmonk Novato. Plus, “Musselwhite was reportedly the inspiration for Elwood Blues, the character played by Dan Aykroyd in the 1980 film, The Blues Brothers.” 6pm, $70.
Other series still happening: Sausalito Jazz and Blues by the Bay, Larkspur Music in the Park (final week, band: The Happys)
Saturday, June 20
It’s opening night for one of the most successful summer block parties in Marin. The headliner is the Traveling Wilburys Revue and also check out the “dancy party” in Imagination Park by It’s a Vibe. 6-8:30pm, free.
Marin French Cheese Co. is starting a summer evening series. They’ll have live music and Belfare’s legendary fried chicken sandwich. 4-7pm, free.

Rocky Graham Park behind the Marin City Target is the location of this festival. Live music, food vendors, activities, and more. 12:30-5pm, free.
I heard there used to be a funicular in Fairfax (a train that goes up steep slopes), but I don’t know where, why, or how. This is my chance to learn from Marcie at the Marin History Museum. 10am, $10.
If you do backcountry hiking, here’s a 6-mile hike where you roleplay common first aid scenarios with an expert. 9am-2pm, $20-75 (open access, choose your own price).
This free, no-drop ride starts at 8:30am on the SF side of the GG bridge at the Equator for coffee and pastries. 9am roll out, arrive at Equator in downtown Mill Valley at 10am (or you can start there if needed), top of Mt. Tam, end at Sausalito Equator for free lunch with the Equator co-founders.
Sunday, June 21
Belvedere gets some excellent bands for their limited run outdoor concert series. They are starting with Super Diamond, which is perfect dad music. 4pm, free.
One final performance of The Wizard of Oz performed way up Mount Tamalpais with a great view. Prices vary.
This sounds like an interesting seven-piece band playing “Cosmic Rock + Americana.” Remember, this series is now at Town Park while Menke is being renovated. 5-6:30pm, free.

This family concert series lets kids move around and listen to the classic-rock canon, at a comfortable volume. They do these regularly, but this week is a Father’s Day Grateful Dead edition. 11:30am, $20.
More Father’s Day ideas: Pond Farm Brewing (pig roast, live music, World Cup), The Pelican Inn BBQ (live music, free beer tasting, $32 burger and beer combo), McQuilkin Family Music Hour in San Geronimo (local families perform together)

Last summer I heard about this new food truck, however I never went. Then I recently saw it on the top of a list of best burgers in California. Ok, you have my attention! It is located at Corte Madera Town Park, Wednesday through Sunday, 11:30am to 7pm. They make smash burgers, so the double is really the standard for a good meat-to-bun ratio.

Gus is a cattle dog mix adopted as a puppy from dogwood animal rescue. He turns 2 in August.
