A simple reset for January. A thoughtful way to review your year.
The Trident restaurant in Sausalito recently closed without warning. Even people who dined there on New Year’s Eve had no idea that would be the final night!
So I thought this would be a good time to share this fascinating story…

Another busy weekend at the Trident had just wrapped. It was the early morning on a Monday in 1971.
Inside, janitor Patrick Pendleton was mopping the kitchen floor when he felt a presence behind him. He turned to see the barrel of a gun held by a man in a black wetsuit and full neoprene hood.
"The guy holding it was a little shorter than I and dressed in a wetsuit that was not wet," Pendleton later recalled. This came to be known as "The Great Trident Frogman Heist," a true crime story is part of Sausalito’s rich history.
The robbers were professionals. They knew the safe would be full of cash and that the roads were monitored by police. So the three men motored across the San Francisco Bay in a Zodiac inflatable boat. They entered the restaurant from the deck without ever stepping on the street.
Pendleton and a window washer named Tom were rounded up, hooded with dish aprons, and handcuffed in the men’s restroom. For the next ninety minutes, they listened to the sounds of an acetylene torch ripping through steel. The robbers, later identified as a professional crew led by Edward Devaney, cut through six doors to reach the administration room. They torched two safes, making off with approximately $30,000 to $43,000 in cash and a star sapphire ring.
When the noise stopped, the employees waited, terrified. Finally, they freed themselves. But after calling the police, Pendleton admitted they didn’t just sit and wait: "we were careful to clean up any incriminating evidence of our nightly debauchery before the police got there."
The getaway boat was spotted on its return to San Francisco, leading detectives to determine the landing spot of the craft. A couple of weeks after the heist, Marin County detectives located the home of Edward Walter Devaney. Inside, they found an arsenal of guns and drilling tools.
Devaney was convicted, however the two accomplices were never identified. He was sentenced to 10 to 40 years. According to former police chief and author Bill Palmini, the crew was part of the "Ettleman Gang," a sophisticated ring of safecrackers linked to mobster William Ettleman and known for targeting cash-heavy businesses.
The heist definitely sounds like something right out of a mob movie!

$9M New Mansion Just Dropped in Tiburon

Tiburon sure has some mansions! Some of the ones on the water cost a lot more than this, but this will do for me. I don’t want to be too greedy.
I mean, take a look at this tennis court:

I don’t even play tennis, but it’s amazing this home has so much space on top of the hill. 1.23 acres, 5,575 sq ft, and an incredible bathtub view.
Maybe my life goal should be to look like I deserve a tour, that alone sounds fun.
