Announcing the 1st Marin Buzz Dinner Club
Something bonkers has happened the last few days.
On Friday we announced a Dinner Club in Downtown San Rafael on Thursday, January 15th at 6:15pm. And 130 people have signed up already!

Why? We are excited to build a stronger community here in Marin and this is a fun way to start. More info in the announcement video and FAQ video.
If you want to join, act fast. We are likely capping the tickets at 150, so just 20 left.

The 1980s were exemplified by a bar where everybody knows your name (Cheers).
The 1950s in Ross? “Love thy grocer.”

I was in the neighborhood yesterday and walked by this plaque. Tony Tutto Pizza was once Ross Cash Grocery (meaning they accepted cash, not a personal credit system many small towns had with higher prices).
Well who were Eddie Ahrens and family? What did they do to deserve so much love?
He was a local boy who went off to fight as a Marine in the Pacific Theater in WWII. And fight he did, including the brutal Battle of Saipan. Eddie Ahrens earned the Silver Star for rescuing his platoon mates and his Executive Officer while under heavy fire.
And then he returned home to the quiet town of Ross. In 1946 he purchased Ross Grocery (he worked there before the war) and would run it until his son took over in 1983.
Yes, the store was a family business from the end of WWII to 2010! During that time Marin grew from 60,000 to 252,000 people.
Small town grocers certainly weren’t as needed anymore. The bigger Woodlands Market came in 1986 and even bigger chains did too. However, this family was greatly appreciated for their service to the community and during WWII.
It is touching that the Ross residents installed this plaque in their honor.

Marin is beautiful and many of you wonderful readers are artistic. So I want to try something new, sharing a scenic photo of the week from the community!

Something I found on my phone from years ago, surely you can top this picture…

When choosing a home, maybe the kitchen cabinets should matter less and the overall quality of life more? I saw there was a recent price drop on this home right by the Bay Club Rolling Hills and thought I’d share it with you.
I’ve never been there, but the club appears to be a family pool, tennis, and fitness center. I’d imagine there are social functions too.
If you can simply walk out your backyard and be there within minutes, that sounds like you have a nice country club life at a bargain price! What do you think?
